Under Construction: Vacation Bible School
Worship
Children are a special part of our church family. You are invited and encouraged to bring your children – infants, toddlers, older children – to worship. Our services are people-friendly!
Infants and Toddlers
You may bring your infant or toddler (up to age 5) to the nursery (Room 204) during Saturday and Sunday worship and/or Sunday School. Our trained and screened nursery attendants are on duty starting 15 minutes before services begin (earlier on Saturdays in case you want to rehearse with the band). Some exceptions are made due to holidays. The nursery is also open on Wednesday evenings for children of all ages.

Children’s Sunday School meets from 9:50-10:45 during the school year. Special activities happen during the summer.
2 and 3 year old’s meet in room 205.
Pre-K through 5th grade meet in the Sanctuary for music.

Vacation Bible School
This year’s VBS will be Monday, August 2 through Friday, August 6, from 9:00 am-12:00 noon. For children age 4 through rising 6th graders. Get ready for an outer space adventure at Galactic Blast! FUMC offers VBS with United Church of Christ and First Christian Church.
Seasonal Programming
During the year, other events help children connect with God and each other, including the Christmas Program, FUMC’s week at church camp, and the fall party.
Acolytes
Children in fourth grade through sixth grade are invited to bring the light of Christ into our Sunday worship services.

*Note: The people of FUMC believe it is in the best interest of the children, youth, church staff and volunteers, and the church to adopt policies, procedures, and screening tools to assist the church in protecting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children and youth who participate in church sponsored activities, and to protect volunteers and church staff, and to ensure prompt and compassionate response to any situations that arise.
Beginning in 1996, FUMC has had a Safe Sanctuaries policy to help protect the children, youth, and adult volunteers of the church. This policy is updated every five years.
All adults who work with children/youth must attend a training session, provide references, and have a background check run by the church. At least two adults are present during any activity for children/youth.
If you have questions about this policy, please speak with the Director of Christian Education.
